Acoustamata's Silken Windhound breeding program centers around our proprietary neuroplasticity technique, the CORE Tuning Method™.
CORE Tuning produces a relaxed and open state in our dogs and helps to prime all of the communication channels so rapport, understanding, and connection become easier. We use CORE Tuning with our puppies and our pregnant dams as well.
Luminous puppies seem to learn via the mother's biochemical responses to the sound of the human voice how to be resilient, trusting, and connected to people before they are even born.
Our puppy owners report remarkable mental, emotional, and physical adaptiveness as well as an unusual depth of empathy and intuition in their new dogs.
The emotional health of our animals is just as important to us as their physical health and, in addition to our focus on correct structure, physical fitness, and temperament, we make every effort to create a cooperative environment that allows our dogs to grow up with dignity and respect.
Holistically Reared
At Luminous, we endeavor to breed in a way that is in alignment with nature’s laws. Our girls give birth in a dark whelping tent in order to help create a atmosphere of calm and safety — good for mom and babies!
Nutrition is critical for early brain development as well as setting the tone for long-term physical health.
The bulk of our dogs’ diet is fresh meat, fish, vegetables, raw goat milk, farm fresh eggs and more.
We feed homemade cooked meals as well as raw.
Our puppies also receive top quality pet foods that we research every year, using the Susan Thixton Truth About Pet Foods List to select truly healthy products.
We provide top human grade supplements such as grass-fed bovine colostrum, probiotics, and organic Norwegian Kelp, as well as giving effective herbal wormers.
We avoid the use of glyphosate as well as other herbicides and pesticides on our property, which are known to produce negative health effects include acute toxicity, cancer, and endocrine disruption.
We also avoid chemical flea and tick solutions, favoring natural solutions that are safer for us and our dogs.Â
While we try to be as natural as possible at Luminous Silken Windhounds we also understand that infectious disease is a concern. In order to mitigate the risks of infectious disease, we follow the Dr. Jean Dodds’ vaccination protocol.

It Takes a Village
Our puppies are raised in our home and the puppies spend a lot of their lives underfoot, learning critical social skills that will serve them as they grow.
We have a whole team of dog lovers that help look after our dogs, including an army of willing puppy socializers that come from the surrounding community.
We follow Puppy Culture methods and, when conditions are appropriate for doing so, we use early neurological stimulation techniques with our puppies, followed by CORE Tuning.
By the time our puppies go home, they have experienced many novel sounds, sights, smells, and environments.
Loud noises, clicker training, leash training, public transit, beach walks, long car rides, stores, loud city environments, overnight stays, multiple different sizes, shapes, ages, and energy levels of both humans and other dogs, play dates with other litters of puppies, cats, and much more.
They’ve also had rudimentary training in manners, potty training, and other critical life skills.
Each puppy is professionally assessed at 8 weeks old for temperament and structure so the individual puppy can be paired with the right families.
We focus on calm temperaments, resilience, and empathy in our lines.
Acknowledgments
We are all standing on the shoulders of giants. Â
Luminous Silken Windhounds would not be possible without the work, wisdom, and mentorship of those who went before us.
Through the years we have built upon the incredible work of other long-time breeders who supported us in our pioneering efforts to create dogs that were not only physically exceptional but had an unusual depth of mental/emotional well-being also.Â
We'd especially like to acknowledge Jennifer Ceballos and Rob Miller of Satsuma Silken Windhounds and the breed founders, Francie and Chuck Stull of Kristull Silken Windhounds.Â
Thanks for letting us have great dogs and use animals from your programs in our own breeding efforts.Â
We don’t breed puppies at Luminous. We forge arrows of healing, each one with a destiny to touch a specific person’s heart. Our puppies are born to bring beauty, light, and joy to the lives of the people they live with.

A Note on Sustainability
Acoustamata's Silken Windhound breeding program is committed to the health of, not only our dogs, but our whole planet. As part of our sustainability effort we utilize resources from generous members of our community by offering freezer cleanouts. Food that would otherwise go in the trash is used for a beneficial purpose, honoring the lives of the animals that were harvested to provide that food and giving our community an alternative to waste. We also feed fresh wild venison that has been killed as a result of human accidents so the animal's life is not lost in vain. Fresh meat, organ meats, fruits, and vegetables prepared in our home kitchen with proper attention to canine nutritional needs is a superior source of nourishment than most commercially prepared pet foods—many of which contain corn, wheat gluten, meat and grain by-products, BHA, BHT, ethoxyquin, dyes, propylene glycol, and rendered fat. With over 3.3 billion pounds of estimated pet food consumed annually in the US alone, sustainability is better for the environment, animals, people, and the planet.Â
